Sophie Leigh Ungvarsky, a talented artist originally from England, recently relocated to Northeastern Pennsylvania and has quickly made her mark on the local arts scene. “I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil and never stopped,” shares Sophie. “Over years of experimentation, I found I had an affinity for painting expressively with watercolor. I’ve always had pets my whole life, and so a natural subject to practice became those, and so it only felt natural to offer this service to others too.”
Sophie’s artistic style is a vibrant explosion of color and movement. She employs a dynamic, energetic application of watercolor, allowing the paint to flow and splatter across the canvas, creating unique and expressive portraits.

Sophie’s portraits are more than just beautiful depictions of animals; they are cherished keepsakes that capture the essence of a beloved companion. “A few years ago, I was commissioned to paint a family dog named Bailey,” Sophie recalls.
“She was old and not long for this world, and the customer wished to gift this portrait to his parents. I poured great amounts of love and care into the portrait, and in gifting it to the family in person, I had the honor of being able to meet Bailey herself.
The family were overcome with emotion at seeing the painting of their old girl, and when she did pass in the following summer, their hearts may have been heavy, but Bailey had been immortalized in such a way that she would live on forever, proudly framed upon the living room wall.”

Sophie is proud to be an LGBTQ+ owned business and actively supports the community. “I am autistic and my business is LGBTQ+ owned, I am nonbinary and I am a proud supporter of human-made artwork. I believe in this day in age we must stand up for each other where we can, we must chose love over hate, and stand up against the rise of AI which threatens the creative industries more and more each day.”
